You may already know me—I’m Mary Yang, a longtime advocate with Climate Action Campaign. While my term as a CAC board chair has ended, my commitment to the climate movement is stronger than ever, and I’m proud to share that I am now Board Emeritus.
With a lifelong passion for education and science, I earned a BS in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Geological and Geophysical Sciences from Princeton University. Yet, while I appreciate that science reveals the depth of the climate crisis, science alone is not the solution.
When we see biodiversity loss, habitat degradation, and natural disasters, we should also see the convergence of people, economics, social justice, and policy. And it is each one of us—engaged and empowered—who drive the change.
Connecting with young activists, local leaders, and community members gives me hope. Their energy, intelligence, and passion reassure me that we will win this fight.
I worked alongside CAC to help the City of San Diego develop its inaugural Climate Action Plan and to advocate for the County’s first Community Choice Energy Program. I’ve been in this fight and witnessed firsthand the impact of standing up for our community.
I invite you to join me in taking a stand by supporting Climate Action Campaign’s work to bring local, tangible action. Together, we can inspire lasting change for our people and planet.
—Mary Yang, CAC Board Emeritus
