As a pediatrician who has seen what the climate crisis can do to our children, I understand that change only happens with community support. So, thank you for your continued support for a better, healthier future.
In the last few years, I’ve seen increasing asthma rates, kids with bad pneumonia in off-seasons, and kids sent to the pediatric inpatient and intensive care units with severe conditions. I’m worried about our children and the developmental implications of climate impacts.
Once I had my ‘aha’ moment that the climate crisis was here, it inspired me to act. I’m the proud co-chair of Climate Action Campaign’s Public Health Advisory Council (PHAC), and I’m excited to share that we’ve recently expanded to Orange County.
It’s a unique opportunity to partner with other health professionals across Southern California to advocate for climate solutions that center on public health.
We can’t wait for state or federal action; we must act now. There’s hope in unity. Together, we’ve created incredible, lasting change for our communities.
In the last year, PHAC has:
Expanded to a strong council of over 10 healthcare leaders in Orange County to bring a healthcare voice to Climate Action Campaign’s work
Members have worked to expand climate and health advocacy and training opportunities to UC San Diego School of Medicine, UC Irvine School of Medicine, and multiple UC undergraduate campuses
Raised awareness and engaged in research and advocacy on the effects of global heating and human health
Thank you for being part of this movement and supporting CAC’s Public Health Advisory Council.
