2024 Letter From the CEO

Climate Action Campaign has a simple vision: clean air, clean energy, and resilient communities for all. More than ever, this year has served as another reminder that we must charge full speed ahead.

This year tested us like never before. Natural disasters. Critical elections. Relentless opposition from the gas industry. Yet we stood firm, winning victories like San Diego County’s community-centered Climate Action Plan, which committed to electrifying buildings and 100% clean power; Fountain Valley joining the Orange County Power Authority to grow the renewable energy movement; and a groundbreaking legal settlement with San Diego City that sets a climate accountability precedent. Each step has brought us closer to the cleaner, safer future our communities deserve.

Of all the advocacy efforts from the year, it was our community’s response to January’s devastating floods that will stay with me the most. When the floods displaced over 1,000 people and destroyed nearly 600 homes, our communities didn’t wait for someone else to step up. We rallied, cleaned up neighborhoods, partnered with local organizations, and pushed for policies– and resources– prioritizing the most vulnerable. It was a powerful reminder that when we stand together, we can overcome anything.

This moment reflects our broader fight: stepping up in the toughest moments, uniting communities, and driving meaningful change. This fight seems even more crucial in 2025.

Looking ahead, we draw strength from our collective power. With your support, we’ll keep fighting for clean energy, climate equity, and a future where every family can thrive.

You’ve already been at the heart of this movement by contacting representatives, attending events, and donating, but the fight isn’t over.

We’re not backing down. We’ve secured historic climate wins—we’re not stopping now!

-Nicole Capretz, CEO and Founder
