DAVID NEISON, MD

PHAC MEMBER

David Neison, M.D. is an Emergency Physician who also specializes in Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management. Raised on the Gulf Coast, he experienced the devastating effects of hurricanes and participated in the Katrina relief effort as a medical student. After training in North Carolina, he moved to California where he has served as Base Hospital Medical Director in Sacramento and San Diego.

He now works as Chairman of Emergency Management for Kaiser Permanente San Diego, where he helps lead preparedness and response to disasters, including wildfires, pandemics and mass casualty incidents. Through this work, he sees how the climate crisis intensifies each of these hazards and stands as the single greatest threat to public health.
