Dr. Alethea (Ali) Monge is currently President and Executive Director of WAVE (Women for American Values and Ethics), a nonpartisan grassroots organization that addresses various socio-civic issues impacting the lives of Orange County residents. Dr. Monge has been an active member of the nonprofit and philanthropic communities in Orange County since moving there from San Diego in 2010 . She is a part of the Orange County Community Foundation's Impact Philanthropy Group and a member of the Orange County Civic Engagement Advisory Council. Dr. Monge also serves as a Trustee of the St. Margaret's Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano and currently chairs the Board's Long-Range Planning Committee. She also represents the Board on the school's Strategic Planning Steering Committee.
Professionally, Dr. Monge was an educator and consultant in the environmental field, focusing on sustainability, environmental finance, and urban planning. Her career began with appointments in the public, private and nonprofit sectors in her native Philippines and in Washington, DC, including the World Resources Institute, The World Bank, and the Institute for Public-Private Partnerships. She was also an analyst at the Milken Institute in Los Angeles while serving as an adjunct faculty member at USC's School of Public Policy from where she received her doctoral degree in planning and development studies. While at USC, Dr. Monge was a Pew Research Fellow at the Center for Religion and Civic Culture, where she coordinated an interdisciplinary group of faculty members interested in faith-based organizing and community development here and abroad. She also holds a master's degree in environmental management from Yale University and a bachelor's in sociology from the University of the Philippines.
Dr. Monge lives in San Juan Capistrano with her husband and two teenage boys.
